German Chipmaker Infineon Collaborates with Nvidia to Develop Power Delivery Chips
German chip manufacturer, Infineon Technologies AG, announced on Tuesday a collaboration with Nvidia (NVDA.US) on developing the industry's first 800V power transmission architecture designed for AI data centers.
The new system architecture will significantly improve power distribution across data centers and allow AI chips within the server board to perform direct power conversion, fundamentally transforming the power transmission framework for accelerated computing data and enhancing reliability and efficiency.
The new 800V HVDC system architecture provides highly reliable and energy-efficient power distribution across data centers, Nvidia's Vice President of System Engineering, Gabriele Gorla, said.
Through this innovative approach, Nvidia can optimize the energy consumption of its advanced AI infrastructure, supporting the company's commitment to sustainability while also delivering the performance and scalability required for the next-generation AI workloads.
